Dr Luke Gordon

About Dr. Luke Gordon

For 25 years, I was a plastic and reconstructive surgeon in South Africa.

I performed over 12,500 operations. Built a thriving private practice. Trained under some of the world’s best surgeons.

In 2020, I was permanently erased from the medical register – the harshest punishment in South African medical history.

Doctors who raped patients got 18 months suspension.

A doctor who murdered his wife can still practice.

I got permanent erasure.

But here’s what the disciplinary hearing didn’t hear:

On August 25, 2010, a patient who had sued me for R4.5 million came to my office.

Three years earlier, I’d amputated his leg after a surgery went catastrophically wrong.

My wife said: “You’d better record this.”

In that 10-minute conversation, he said:

  • “I want to be your friend for the rest of my life.”
  • “You are a very, very good doctor.” (said twice)
  • “You’ve got to make me five years younger.” (asking me to operate on him again)

My lawyers never played this recording at my disciplinary hearing.

Why?

Because in 2004, I sent one email that got a colleague fired.

For the next 16 years, Dr. Les Berkowitz plotted my destruction.

With the help of attorney Gary Austin, he orchestrated a coordinated attack: 16 complaints filed simultaneously, all faxed from Austin’s office. Paid witnesses on Carte Blanche. Expert witnesses intimidated or bribed.

A decade-long conspiracy to destroy my career.

I’m telling this story because:

  • Corruption thrives in silence
  • Systems protect bullies and destroy good people
  • Truth deserves to be told, even if it takes 20 years

My goal: Get this story to Netflix. Expose the HPCSA’s corruption. Help others facing similar injustice know they’re not alone.

Current status: 240 subscribers. Goal: 10,000.
